Designing for Well-Being and Autonomous and Intelligent Systems
The IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems recently launched the second version of Ethically Aligned Design: A Vision for Prioritizing Human Well-being with Autonomous and Intelligent Systems. It is the most comprehensive, crowd-sourced global treatise on this topic available today. DDfV executive director Virginia Dignum and several other DDfV researchers have contributed to this initiative.
About the Report
Ethically Aligned Design (EAD) is comprised of more than one hundred pragmatic recommendations for technologists, policy makers and academics to utilize right away. Created by more than 250 global cross-disciplinary thought leaders, the goal of EAD version 2 is to advance a public discussion, standards and policy about how we can establish ethical and social implementations for intelligent and autonomous systems and technologies, aligning them to moral values and ethical principles that prioritize human well-being.
In this video Raja Chatila, Executive Committee Chair of the IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems, discusses the background and mission of the initiative and invitates people to participate:
