Open strategic autonomy is a key ambition for Europe, aimed at greater technological independence and technological (and digital) sovereignty, in response to recent international political developments. Open strategic autonomy seems like an important new value for technological design and development, but there are still many open questions to take this concept from theory to practice, and to determine how it impacts research and development. This newly established SIG within the Delft Design for Values Institute (DDfV) will further explore the notion with an interdisciplinary team of researchers, to initiate relevant discussions within TU Delft.
