Policy paper on big shifts in spatial planning in The Netherlands!
We are pleased to share the recent policy paper Designing for Public Values in a Digital Democracy, which reflects on several ongoing and emerging transitions in the field of spatial planning in the Netherlands. The paper discusses how digitalisation, decentralisation, and shifting governance structures are reshaping the way spatial decisions are made and implemented.
It highlights the importance of considering public values—such as inclusiveness, transparency, and democratic legitimacy—when navigating these changes. Rather than offering definitive answers, the publication raises questions and perspectives intended to support reflection and dialogue among policymakers, researchers, and practitioners.
Among the contributors are members of our institute, including Roberto Rocco and Darinka Czischke, along with colleagues from other organisations.
