Call for proposals: Designing for Values!
The Delft Design for Values institute is reaching out to its members to submit a proposal for seed funding for transdisciplinary collaborative activities that are cross-faculty. The overall aim of the seed funding program is to increase the impact of design for values research and education at TU Delft and to strengthen the position of TU Delft in this field. Proposals should demonstrate that the suggested project will serve as a catalyst for research and educational activities with the potential for further development. Do you have a project idea? Please send us by email a 2 page document, including the following:
- Applicable DDFV theme(s)
- Applicants’ title, name, etc.
- The requested budget (between 5.000 and 25.000 euro)
- The duration of the project (The maximum duration of projects is 12 months)
- Activities & costs and a substantiation of the costs
- The impact
What do we ask for?
- transdisciplinary research projects in which multiple faculties collaborate,
- on a designing for values related topic (you can find inspiration under the heading ‘topics’ of this website),
- of which the main applicant is a TU Delft scientific staff member that is a member of the DDfV institute,
- a plan for follow-up on the research project – perhaps together with the institute – to create impact. The project needs to create a stepping stone towards larger research goals of TU Delft and the DDFV institute. This could be in terms of securing external research funding, or by a structural contribution to knowledge dissemination or showcasing designing for values research and tools to others,
- Of which the costs are between 5.000 and 25.000 euro.
What do we ask during and after the project?
- At the end of the seed funding project, we ask for a publicly available final report on the activity (e.g., the end result itself (paper/publication), a webpage on the institute’s website featuring a written or visual report, a short movie, etc.).
- The funding from the Institute should be acknowledged in the project team’s communications as well as any presentation or publication that follows based on this funding.
Examples of activities that can be funded?
- Networking efforts and preparation for larger research grant applications,
- Development of new teaching material.
- Small scale demonstrations of potential use cases of envisioned research.
- Hosting costs for prominent international guest researchers (no fees).
- Organizational costs of workshops and other joint activities.
- Setting-up joint research activities.
- Hiring student assistants.
- Joint activities for master or PhD students.
Please include a breakdown of costs to motivate the requested amount.
Available budget for this call: 50.000.
We will publish all winning proposals on our website. The planning is:
