DDFV Open Subsidy – Call for Proposals 2021

Researchers at Delft University of Technology who are working on design for values are cordially invited to make use of this 2021 Call for Proposals for the “DDFV Open Subsidy”. The aim of this subsidy is to stimulate preparation of larger research grant applications.

A subsidy of €5-8K per proposal can be requested. Examples of activities that can be funded include, but are not limited to: exploratory research, proposal writing (support), organizing associated activities like workshops, building a demonstrator for a proposal, developing or executing proof of concept experiments, and support of student assistants.

In this round, 4 to 7 projects can be funded.

Who can apply

• Researchers from all faculties with a contract at least until 1 September 2022 can apply.
• The proposal should be a joint proposal between faculties with at least one applicant being a member of a DDFV faculty (Architecture, CEG, EEMCS, IDE, TPM).
• Each applicant may only be involved in one proposal per round.

Conditions

• The anticipated project may be on fundamentals or applications of values, but must contribute to the DDFV vision and research themes and should deal with values explicitly.
• The project team aims to involve the DDFV community whenever appropriate, by presenting their plans and insights at one of the DDFV community meetings and by having activities open to the community.
• Project outputs are showcased and events are announced on the DDFV website and in DDFV newsletters.

Procedure

• Requests must be submitted through the application form (download via link).
• The application must include applicants, description of planned activities and timeline, contribution to DDFV vision and research themes, budget and requested amount with argumentation.
• Deadline for applications: Wednesday 12 May, 2021.
• Review process: All submitted proposals will be evaluated by a DDFV evaluation committee. The proposals will be ranked and the committee can decide to 1. Grant an application, 2. Ask for adjustments/additions according to their feedback 3. Reject the proposal if it does not meet the criteria or is ranked too low.
• Results will be communicated in the last week of May 2021.
